Traditionally, calibration gas was supplied in cylinders, which comes with significant limitations. These cylinders are predominantly filled with clean, dry air, rendering them highly inefficient. For instance, in a 10 PPM cylinder, 99.999% of the content comprises air. However, calibration gas generators offer a more advantageous alternative. By utilising ambient air at the calibration point and blending it with the desired gas, these generators provide notable benefits.


Calibration gas generators produce gas on demand, eliminating the need for storage and offering several advantages over older methods. Gas is generated only when required, and it is never pressurised, ensuring safety during air transport and maintaining quality over time. Many customers rely on the same calibration source for extended periods, ranging from 5 to 15 years, without any degradation in calibration quality.


The on-demand gas generation capability allows a single calibration source to produce adjustable concentrations, unlike cylinders that offer fixed concentrations. Most generators can provide concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 125 parts per million, with the flexibility to vary the flow rate.
